A quick demo of Mugshot to give some background, but my talk is about what we learned from doing the original designs for the OLPC Sugar software and how those ideas have to change our current desktop. With Sugar we were able drop all assumptions and take a number of ideas around sharing, documents, packages, and presence that your average desktop hasn't come close to realizing. With Mugshot we've been looking at web sites as applications that deserve integration and a proper home on your desktop. Also the sharing and organizing of things you do online being just as important to your desktop experience (if not more) than sharing and organizing the things you do on your desktop.
Through a mix of body paint, naked yoga, and modern dance I will try to embody the problems we are seeing and ideas we have for changing the linux desktop. And if none of that works I will have a slide or two, screenshots, demos, and prototypes of possible solutions to our generations tragic common desktop problem.
